As a developer on the App Store, I have had several coworkers ask for a copy of my program. I'd like to give it to them as a gift, but I don't know the easiest way to go about this. My program costs $5, and the lowest denomination of Apple gift certificates is $10.

So what's the best way to give a complimentary copy of an app to someone else?

    Ad Hoc

Get their device UID, register that device ID and get an Ad Hoc provision certificate from the dev website which includes that ID, check out a distribution version from your source code control, build an Ad Hoc version, zip it up into an ipa file, email them the ipa and the certificate.

If your app is in the store, and the Ad Hoc procedure is worth more than $5 to $10 of your time, just send them a gift certificate with some extra value on it.

Yeah, you're right. That definitely does seem the way to go. Thanks anyway.
