iPod gift cards

Hi,

Is there anyway to check the validity of an iTunes gift card before redeeming it?
the card itself is genuine but I'm not sure of it's history.

Whats wrong with just entering it on iTunes to see if it is or not? Are you giving the card to someone else?

my aunt gave them to me. they are my cousins but he doesn't want them.

they are probably okay but let's just say that he is no angel🙄 and I don't want my account locked.
