Hi guys.

I bought a Gigabyte GeForce 980 for my stock 4.1 Mac Pro, but it came with the wrong power cables as these are for a Windows machine. I went to my local computer shop but they don't have the ones to fit a Mac and the salesman said I had to be careful with regards the power draw. He also said if not done right I could hurt my Mac.

So I look on Ebay and find 6 pin to 8 pin cables available from China with the right plugs, so my question is ....... Will any 6 pin to 8 pin power cable for a video card do the job?

I know I need two of them and to use both the extra power plugs in the Mac.

I'm not tech savvy at all and I have read the posts but they seem very technical and deal with a GTX 980Ti and my card is just a GTX 980 (No "Ti" prefix).

Thank you!!! I have ordered two cables from Ebay. Do I need to go online and find and instal the Driver, or will the Mac do that automatically?
