hi you all, I've got gigabyte gtx 680 with 4Go vram, flashed with florian efi like before, and flash procedure is ok and works fine on pc, when I put it on Mac Pro 5,1 it started the system but with full speed fan noise, only when entered in desktop, it will stop for while, but when I launch the apps, it will turn on full speed again, pvram did, termite changed, fans cleaned, changed three of roms, changed fans speed percentage control down to 60, but nothing changed, then remove the fans, it worked too normally of course it's quiet, think maybe the fans problem, need advice before change fans, thank you so much. Daniel

please search the forums before opening new threads. there are tons of posts discussing the same problem. next, as we have already told you: NEVER crossflash any different roms to other branded cards. IT WILL MOSTLY NOT WORK. did you get that?

thank you coco, i know you are right about not cross flash the rom, but i thought that was for amd card, we know there are many subvendors made gtx 680, but i dont know how to flash all there different brand card with only one evga gtx680 efi rom without cross flash, as i know i've just did what other member does, can you tell that?

to be honest, no i can not. i have never flashed a gtx 680. but what i can tell you is that you need a evga efi for evga cards, a asus efi for asus cards and so on. no card, either nvidia or amd, is the same. to be as honest to you as possible, in my opinion you are missing basics here. you urgently need to do some research on vendoring differences before furtherly flashing any cards with roms not being suitable for that. sorry to be so direct.

hi coco, thank you for your reply, for your direct and honest, but you are not helping here, if you ask other members, or you do some research in forums, you will find all gtx 680 cards, asus, evga, gigabyte, msi, and all other 680 all use the same efi rom from evga mac version, well mvd seems made one before, that's the same source from evga, this is the last official integrated version on mac, after it we start to need the webdriver to have full acceleration, so why i start this new thread, is because, like i said: flashed like before, it means i did a lot flash of this model card, but only this one has issue, so i through this questions to see if anyone has the same expérience, to see if that is a common problem or only my card is dammaged, that is my purpose, but still thank you so much, the more we discuss the more we learn right?

Hi Daniel,

When you said full fan speed, is it the GPU fan or one of the Mac Pro fan?
My Palit GTX 680 4GB caused my expansion slot fan (PCI Fan?) to ramp up to 1140 when I put my GPU @ Slot 2.
If I put my GPU @ Slot 1 then the expansion slot fan will ramp up to 1400 (quite audible) though once OSX load it will ramp down to ~1250 - 1270 (quite).

For now I just use slot 2 for my GPU.

hi thank you for your reply, I put it on first slot x16, and it's only the gpu fans turned on full speed, and you can tell the sound is not only 1400 or 2000 speed, and it doesn't stop, but nothing strange on the Mac Pro

IC, so it is different issue than mine.
Sorry couldn't help, I think moving to slot 2 probably won't help with the GPU fan.
