    Hi,

I find a Gigabyte Radeon RX 580 Gaming 8GB in one of my dealer at a good price.
I want to upgrade the graphic cards of my Mac Pro 5.1.

    My setup:
    Mac Pro 5.1(Middle 2010)
    3.33 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
    16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 Ram
    Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6
    Audio-interface: Motu 828MKII (By firewire).

    Utilisation: Dubbing/Voice Over
    with 3x Monitors:
    1. One for the sound engineer (With the recording application in my case DP10).
    Samsung S20D300 19" 1600x900.
    2. One for the sound engineer (With the video).
    Samsung S20D300 19" 1600x900.
    3. And one for the actor (With the video) 43" Good resolution.

Please let me know your feedback with this card:Gigabyte Radeon RX 580 Gaming 8GB.
Any feedbacks are more than welcome.

    Thanks in advance.

Abosolutely ! It works great !

I think that it is the best 580 you can find around ... way better than the Sapphire

    Thanks Lukethmore,

If you have any advice on my utilisation:
    Utilisation: Dubbing/Voice Over
    with 3x Monitors:
    1. One for the sound engineer (With the recording application in my case DP10).
    Samsung S20D300 19" 1600x900.

    Samsung S20D300 19" 1600x900.
    3. And one for the actor (With the video) 43" Good resolution.

I heard a boot screen issue??

    absolutely ...

multi-display is not a problem for sure (I have "just one" Dell 21:9 3840x1440 with HDMI cable)

no boot screen ... but it's not a problem for me, I have just one boot option ... my SSD.

If I need to reinstall MacOS I erase the SSD with my other Mac, put again in my Mac Pro and and connect an external drive to install Mojave (or other MacOS version)

I am currently using the Gigabyte RX 460 4G, and considering myself an upgrade to RX 580 8G. I have the impression that the Sapphire Pulse RX 580 is the gold card to be considered as it's the "certified" card by Apple.

May I know what make you feel the Gigabyte RX 580 is even better.

    Thanks and curious.

I found the Gigabyte RX580 more "quiet" (I have the Sapphire on my second Mac Pro) ... I think that the fans / heatsinks work better.

I noticed that even with my old GTX1070 from Gigabyte ...

Where I live in Namibia there is no too much choice...
the only RX580 I find in one dealer here is the Gigabyte for the equivalent of 210U$.
    That the only reason.

    Thanks again guys

An alternative to the RX 580, the newest Polaris card...the Gigabyte RX 590 works great!
