Girlfriend's white macbook magsafe failing? Stops charging

My girlfriend's 06 or 07 white macbook is starting to stop charging pretty often. Sometimes toying with the plug or turning it around fixes it, but then it will stop again.

She tried it with my roommates plug which seemed to work fine.

Is her best option just to take it to the apple store? Any ideas to try first?

My charger has failed 3 times since buying my macbook. i think its a common thing. but being that old a macbook i say you/her will be up for $$$ for a new charger

Do they replace it free? She got AppleCare, but I dont know if its still in effect.
