I'm not sure I follow your reasoning. The purchase of GitHub isn't just about C#, or any Microsoft made language. Microsoft supports more languages that just its own. Azure isn't just restricted to C#, so GitHub having better integration with Azure doesn't care about any specific language. The more customers on Azure, the better - and its language neutral, as it should be.
The point is, I would think the 80% of C code are Linux people and such.

What has C ( or indeed, Linux ) got to do with anything related to Github ( or Azure ) ? Sorry, I'm still not following you. 80% of what?
It was just some punctual statistics.

The most popular languages there actually seem to be JavaScript, Python and Java. So, if they can keep 50% of their customers I guess it is not wasted money.

What's the point?
Office365 actually links in with Github for a lot of things. For example, if you want to create Virtual Machines on Office365, you can download a template from Github. So I guess part of this is to make sure no one else buys it in the future and then forces MS to remove all their content from GitHub.

Microsoft have purchased Skype, LinkedIn, and they aren't worse off than they were beforehand.

That's pretty faint praise indeed :D. LinkedIn probably was always trashy (I can't remember, to be honest), but lately it feels worse and worse. Maybe it's just that other social networks keep improving/polishing while LinkedIn stays half-baked. I keep getting surprised that there's no way to improve how they report group activity, for example.

Skype probably was already going bad before it was bought, but man, the rare times I have to open it, it hurts. And that's even before wondering about the NSA saga...
