I have many PDF file names that often contain number identifiers (though they contain 'Title' information as part of the file).

This makes it difficult to interpret when looking at just File Names in Finder, for example.

Is there a way to grab the PDF 'Title' attribute and rename the file names to make them more meaningful?

Here are some ideas:

You could use the info there about the 'mdls' command to make an Automator app that accepts PDFs dropped on it, and renames the files. That's not a trivial thing to accomplish if you've never done any shell scripting before, but it seems entirely possible to me.

If you need more specific help, post with more detailed info on exactly what you need help with.

You can rename a pdf file to whatever you wish.

Doing so won't change the content of the file.
