Hi I was wondering If I would be able to return a unopened Mini to the physical retail store if I had ordered it online through the apple store.

I would have thought so, if not then I am not sure if the 10% restocking fee still applies on online goods. As it doesn't apply on ones bought in store.

That depends on whether or not the mini in question is a baseline mini, with absolutely ZERO enhancements from the default configuration options (if you just hit 'add to cart' without changing any of the options). If it does have a custom configuration, even just RAM, you will have to go through the online store. However, if you could buy an identical mini to yours at any other store that carries it, you should be able to return it to a retail store (unless the policy on returns has changed within the last couple of years regarding this situation).

    Hope that helps.

This is not the case here in the UK with Apple. Anything bought on the online Apple store has to be returned to them and cannot be returned to an Apple retail store. You have to call customer service who will then give you an RMA ( return merchandise authorisation I believe ) number and arrange for a courier to pick it up. Once they have received it and are happy that the item meets refund/exchange requirements they will initiate the refund/exchange. I believe this is the case with Apple worldwide.

As an example I pre-ordered the iPad 2, Smart cover and digital AV adapter on the day of launch here in the UK. After 2 weeks I got tired of waiting and managed to pick one up in a local Apple store. The online order had already shipped so I couldn't cancel it. I called an Apple store as well as the online customer service and was told by both of them I could not return the items to an Apple retail store.

If in doubt then the best thing to do is to call Apple customer service or a local Apple store.

Couldn't you have returned the online items to the local retail store and have said that you had bought them from the retail store and that you don't need them? Accessories do not have SN tracking, so it would have been easier...

That can't be done as the online invoice is not the same as the retail store receipt. If I showed that invoice as proof of purchase they would immediately know the items came from an online order and would have told me to call customer service to arrange a return through the online store. It is annoying as some retailers do accept returns in their retail stores for items bought on their online store. PC World here in the UK comes to mind.
