giving my mom my canon S90

Giving her this S90 because she has been using this crap digital camera from the '90s for important events.

Should I go ahead and get my self an S95 or is something new about to come out?

Give your mom the S90 and get a Nikon! They have better cameras IMO. What do you mainly use your camera for? Professional shots?

The S95 is only a slight upgrade to the S90, the PQ is the same (same lens & sensor). Unless you must have 720p video or in camera HDR I'd wait for the next model...
