Giving up on Retina for MBA?

Just visited the Apple Store and looked at all the new stuff. The MBA screen just does not compare at all any more. Retina is so obviously better. Sure is a nice device though. The updated one will be dynamite for sure.

The retinal iMac is super. I would never buy anything but that quality of screen. All else seems simply old at this point. It is not a subtle difference.

Yes, Retina is horrible in that way: once you see it you just don't want to go back.
I never paid attention to this, but after looking at the rMBP's screen I just couldn't shake off seeing the pixels on the MBAs and it just looked outdated.

I easily and regularly switch between an iPad 4 and an MBA 11 without being fixated on pixels. The emotion-fueled hyperbole around the non-retina MBA screen would be comical if it wasn't so sad.

I get that for some people PPI is a high priority requirement. But using that opinion to make the claim that the MBA screen is "horrible", "terrible", "pixelated mess", etc. isn't helpful to those looking for some input and makes the person saying it sound like a drama queen.

There have been quite a few good deals this year on MBA's. And some of us got in on those deals and have been enjoying our non-retina devices without regret. No problem for those who believe that it is retina-or-die. They are fine because they'll wait... it is THAT important to them.

But for those who didn't particularly care one way or another but scared off by the hyperbole, lesson learned for them... go see the device in person and make the decision for yourself.
