While I, myself, am a fumbling oaf.
Well, that isn't to say that I haven't dropped my devices. I have. Usually that's a result of inattention due to whatever factor at the time.

But outside of that I'm careful with my stuff, where I put it down, how I put it down and I maintain situational awareness of my device in relation to others and potential threats to it. I can't afford the attitude of 'just get another one'. :)

But the person in question at work has a very difficult time in respecting boundaries and other people's property. She's broken some of my stuff just by her consistent lack of attention to whatever it is she's doing. She's been known to trip over flat and level ground. For those reasons I maintain a strict protocol of where my devices (and cords) are whenever I am at my desk (or away from it).

I think it's kind of ironic that one of the female employees you work with breaks things in such a controlled environment. So it goes to show you that some people naturally are complacent and horribly unaware of others personal property. But Then again, I am opposite and I have never broken or even dropped any of my phones before. So I guess it's naturally dependent on the person.

Very true. In her case it's down to personality and not natural clumsiness. I could handle it a lot better if it were natural clumsiness, but for her, she just doesn't care.

Were the 4 & 4S the only iPhones with a full glass back? Both my wife and I had no problems with our 4S's. Mine was handed down to my preteen son who has used it two years with no case without incident or damage. Truly a great design.

I'm married to one of those :(

My old 4s survived one nasty drop intact, no cracks. My partner has it now, and it's still crackless.

All of our phones have silicon cases. Primarily it's to lessen the likelihood of them slipping off something/someone, but the cases also cushion a fall. Look after these things and they stay blemish free.

It's going to have a glass front no matter what, so the back is sort of irrelevant when there'll still be something to crack and ruin. Even metal will scuff up eventually, knowing some people. Might as well just go all in at this point.

Ahh the iPhone 4/4S design was so awesome when it came out.. blew me away. That design should seriously be in a tech museum, the peak of Steve Jobs.

You're right, just seeing those pics posted reminded me what a gorgeous design it was, a perfect blend of elegance and functionality. It obviously looks a bit dated now but the 4/4S design is so far the best designed iPhone I think.

Didn't Jobs also have some hand in the design of the 5?

I really would have loved to know what he made of the 6/6s/7. Jobs made mistakes sometimes and I don't bring him up to bash the newer designs I just really would be curious to know what he would be doing today.

He would, I am quite sure, have dropped his belief in all iPhones being the same size. I wonder what he would have thought about the camera bump though. And in particular what he would have thought about the idea of an SE model - he was always so good at cutting through complicated line ups to keep things as simple as possible for the customer. Would it have been called the iPhone mini or something else like that? Or would he have flat out rejected the idea of a cheaper iPhone?
