a) You need tactile function for real keyboard use, but this will be OK for diddlers.
b) It's an OK idea, not a great idea. This really is just a cool-looking device that makes someone appear like a Matrix poser.
c) Why doesn't he get funding from a bank or large investors? $10 from internet punters?
d) The best mouse ever made was the MS Thumball with 5 buttons. No need to look for anything else. While a touchpad is nice, it's not that great and again offers no tactile. I wish MS would make that Thumball again: it's been discontinued for 6 or so years.

The advantages of having a configurable keyboard like this is obvious. You can have commands labeled for specific apps, like games and film editing apps...

That is a great idea, and maybe you should invent that keyboard.

Unfortunately, that is not what is presented here. Go watch the video: "the keys are PRINTED on the back of the glass to allow years of use and not rub off".

It is a touch surface, not an LCD screen. No capability to display anything.

I like the guy's ideas. Unfortunately I think he has given too much information in the video and now Samsung is getting their crack team of copycats to make their own.

I think this looks very promising and cool. If it turns out right, I may be inclined to get a keyboard, but probably not the mouse.

One thing I would've liked to see in the video is an actual prototype being used with a computer.

I thought of that too, and I assume he already has patents on it. If he doesn't have any patents, he's quite foolish for revealing as much detail as he did.

Because technology tends to move forward, not backward.

??? Not really sure what you mean. I don't find keyboards particularly comfortable either.

What would you find comfortable?

Indeed.

I was talking about this specific product, why do you think this specific solution will be the norm? Im not saying it wont be, im just curius on why. I am not sure. I think keyboards will be flatter more laptop-like, like apple keyboards but it will still be proper buttons or something very good at simulating the physical respons of a button. I simply dont see myself writing a book on a flatt glass surface. Honestly, I dont even find apple laptoplike keyboards that comfortable for long writing sessions.

This is way cool, I'm in and I think I'll donate a little later today. I have to figure out how much i can afford to give.
I think the mouse & keyboard are going to be nice high end accessories, but I'm not sure if it's going to sell to the average user.

Seriously people trying to invent new things without a purpous are just like 5 year old kids talking about cars that can raise up into street lights, oh wait that was an adult too.

That mouse looks unmovable

It's called a "trackpad". They've been around a while.

I couldn't play the video with the sound on here, but is the keyboard layout 'fixed' or is it just a display that can be changed?

If it's fixed, could they not add non-conductive add little 'nipples' to the middle of the SDF and JKL keys are located (or even add the nipples to the middle of each key)? So you can position your fingers correctly without looking just by lightly touching these nipples, rather than the conductive keys.

If I were to buy a non-tactile keyboard, I would rather have a dynamic color display such as the Optimus Tactus. However I think they've missed their release date of January 1st, 2008 by a few days. ;)

I think that's what he meant. :p He's saying he doesn't want it because of this.
