Quick question. I was under the impression that the screen on the iPad was glass. I got my 3G on Friday and I swear it is plastic. It feels plastic, when I tap on it it sounds plastic, even even I press on it it bows in like plastic.

Did I just imagine it was supposed to be glass?

Step away from the crack pipe. :D

I could be snarky with a reply, and say just yours is plastic. Everyone else got glass.

It is glass. I think what you feel when touching it is the solid feel of glass, rubber seal, and aluminum. Don't worry about it.

It's 100% genuine grade "A", oleophobic coated, optical quality glass.

Glass.

btw: It's not pressure sensitive, it's touch. So pressing on it won't do much good (it shouldn't do much bad, either, but I wouldn't do it myself).

It's more like acrylic glass AKA plexiglas, so it's feels like plastic, yet is harder; at the same time it's stronger than glass and more shatter resistant.

Drop it face down on cement to check.

I'm kidding, its glass and can/will shatter.

100% Plastic.

The front screen is in deed plastic. I have repaired many Digitizers and lcd's on the mini platforms to tell you that the front DIGITIZER is PLASTIC!!! It may look like glass, or even crack like glass. But it is plastic. I have Over heated two digitizers(Front screen) and the melted a little. So trust me it is plastic.

Plastic does not crack like glass.

It's not just this thread. There are a LOT of confused people posting to MacRumors. And I mean a LOT.

Whatever it is my Air had a problem. When I played music the screen actually vibrated alot. Then while listen to music and playing a jigsaw puzzle game requiring me to slide my finger across the screen I kept getting a zing like shock. Since I have never had that problem on any other ipads I am thinking it is a problem with the screen. I do notice the same vibration on my mini retina but it is a much more minor issue and there is no zinging to my fingers.

Bottom line I ended up taking the air back. It was perfect in every other way.

Just curious if anyone else has noticed the same problem?
