Anybody else having issues finding one that doesn't "ghost" around the sides? My household has two iPhone 8's, a 6S, and I've used a few different brands of glass screen protectors on those devices over the years that work fine. I'm now on the third one for my 2nd Gen SE, and I can't get it to sit right. It might be silly to some, but I cannot stand a glass screen protector that lifts around the edges.

It doesn't really make sense, since this is the same screen as the 8... or did I just get lucky and get one that has a tad bit more curve, due simply to manufacturing discrepancies?

It’s not the same as the glass on the 8. Ever so slightly different. It’s not the phone, it’s the cheap general protectors that companies have been selling forever and are now lying saying they fit the SE when they don’t.

So I'm not crazy...

But shouldn't it be identical to the glass on the 8?

If anybody finds this thread first - here is the original thread: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/2020-se-screen-protector-compatibility.2232601/

I'm concerned there won't be a solution here. Glass is glass, it can't bend much at the edges. If the screen's subtle curve doesn't flatten out until further into the screen now, this could end up being similar to the Galaxy S7, which had a "flat" screen, but it didn't flatten out until you were so far into the actual screen, that it was pointless to try and get a tempered glass protector for it.

After trying a few up to this point (JETech and Spigen from Amazon, and the Belkin version) none worked until tonight. Earlier this evening I bought a few from Best Buy to try, not expecting any of them to work (Zagg, Armor Edge, Insignia). The first one I tried was Insignia, and go figure, it lays down perfectly clean with zero ghosting. 👍

FWIW, when I bought it online (for curbside pickup), it said it was for the 2nd Gen iPhone SE, but the box they gave me actually says iPhone 8. It also doesn’t appear any less narrow than the others I’ve tried. But it works perfectly and actually feels really great compared to others as well (never used Insignia before). Maybe I got lucky, but just FYI.

I think the manufacturers assumed it was the same based on specs provided (mentioned in a similar thread). The other thread mentions that Spigen is aware and working on it. I reached out to Moshi who said the same.

I've been searching for screen protectors too - the Amazon listing for the glass LK protectors has a post from "LK-Direct" stating that the iPhone SE 2020 version will be available soon. So add them to the list of vendors aware of the problem, and not just trying to pass off old stock as "compatible".

Here is the response I got from an email from Spigen support:

At Spigen, we strive to provide fast service and quality products always and it is most unfortunate to inform you that from our quality check, we found our current inventory of iPhone 7/8/SE2020 Screen Protector EZ FIT GLAS.tR SLIM may not fit the device correctly and may lift around the edges.

As we do not wish to send you a less than perfect product, we will proceed with cancelling the current order for iPhone 7/8/SE2020 Screen Protector EZ FIT GLAS.tR SLIM and process a full product refund for this item.

Our current ETA for a new and updated version of the SE2020 Screen Protector is anywhere from 4-5 weeks.
