Got the phone... and before handing it to my daughter, I wanted to install the screen protector.

Installed the glass screen protector that was meant for iPhone 8 and... it is definitely too large. The edges are not sticking, it seems like they are "in the air" so to speak.

Amazon listings are confusing, as they seem to indicate that the same protector will cover anything from iPhone 6s to 2020 iPhone SE.

Am I the only one confused? Which glass screen protector will truly fit?

One made for an 8 should definitely fit, the screens of the 8 and the 2020 SE are exactly the same size. Are you sure you didn’t accidentally get a screen protector made for an 8 Plus?

Too funny. I am having the same issue. I have 2 iPhone SE's and my extra iPhone 7/8 tempered glass protectors are not fitting due to a rather large HALO around the edges. It may just be an enhanced curve on the screen that is causing issues.

Seems like you got a defective protector.

Apple tells accessory makers every physical dimension of the SE2 is identical to the iPhone 8.

What's the brand? I bought a set of Maxboost protectors from Amazon a while ago and ~1.5mm of glass is not adhering on sides.

OMOTON & JetTech. I tried both of these on two separate iPhone SEs. I then put it on an iPhone 8, and no HALO on the iPhone 8.

The protectors are working on my iPhone 8, so there certainly are some tolerance differences with the 2 SEs I have between screen manufacturers, or, the iPhone SE has a more pronounced curve on the edges.

There are some differences in the SE2020 screen. I went through 4 screen protectors of different brands yesterday, and I couldn't get any of them to adhere perfectly along all edges. :/

This has been an issue with the iPhone 6/7/8/and now the new SE for ages.

Because the screen edges on these phones are curved, screen protectors basically never adhere and stick properly on the edges.

I completely agree however, I've previously owned a 6/6s/7 and managed to get curved protectors on them without any major issues. No matter what I tried with the SE, I couldn't get this to work.

Thank you for this! I thought I was going crazy with my own screen protectors - which, work fine on my work issued iPhone 8, but am getting the halo effect on the SE.

Yes this is an issue for me as well. Had an iPhone 8 in the family and did not have screen protector issues before with any brand. We got the Belkin protector from the Apple site listed as compatible and it does have about 1.5mm around the edge that doesn’t seal down. Hoping adhesive slowly fills gap.

I got a $5 bodyguardz yesterday from att they’re on sale

same with Zagg

but... same thing partially lifted on sides. Shame bc its otherwise a pretty nice feeling and lookingnprotector

what’s weird is it looks like it’s by the edge of the screen not black bezel so does the glass curve over the near end vertical sides of the screen?

applied a small amount of pressure (safe) to see it go away on the sides but it comes right back so definitely not gonna bother me

I see people using a light amount of vegetable oil and a q tip Alomg the edge to seal it with halo effect on other phones and protectors but notsure I’m gonna try that eitner

just wondering if this will be corrected

6s/7/8 users did you still have to go through a few brands and types before finding one that didn’t have this lift?

I don’t recall it being a common issue with the plus phones or my xr

I went through at least 6 different brands of full screen 3d tempered protectors on my 6S before I found one that didn't lift around the viewable portion of the display.. Was a challenge that's for sure I almost gave up. My 5S was easy because of the flat screen, 6S sucked. I tried once with my X and had issues so I just left it off.

is it possible that’s what’s goiNg on here too or something even more tricky with SE2?

the leather case yeah

were you gonna recommend the one that goes over edge to edge ?

I was hoping there’s a good one that isn’t edge to edge for full case compatibility
I wanted the full coverage one so it was hard to find a case that didn't cause the protector to lift. I loved the Spigen Tough Armor case but it was a definite no go for that type of screen protector. I tried expensive to cheap screen protectors and it was a super cheap one that finally worked out. If you don't want full coverage it should be a lot easier to find one that works out

I'm a little concerned there won't be a great solution if the curve doesn't stop until you're one-eighth of an inch inside the screen area on both sides... It worked ok on the 8/7/6S because that curve pretty much stopped right along the edge of the screen.

that's what it seems like from where the screen is raised, right?

but I see the same photos of screen protectors on amazon applied to older 4.7 models too...

The iPhone X and newer devices all have more shallow curves than the SE2/8 and older devices. If protectors can be made for X, the SE2 is not a problem.

More likely than not, this is a screen protector manufacturing issue. Unless we believe Apple is providing inaccurate specs by telling every accessory maker that SE2 and 8 are physically identical in every way.

[sorry for the double post of this comment, but it seemed worth putting in this thread as well]

After trying a few up to this point (from Amazon, and the Belkin version) none worked until tonight. Earlier this evening I bought a few from Best Buy to try, not expecting any of them to work (Zagg, Armor Edge, Insignia). The first one I tried was Insignia, and go figure, it lays down perfectly clean with zero ghosting. 👍

FWIW, when I bought it online (for curbside pickup), it said it was for the 2nd Gen iPhone SE, but the box they gave me actually says iPhone 8. It also doesn’t appear any less narrow than the others I’ve tried. But it works perfectly and actually feels really great compared to others as well (never used Insignia before). Maybe I got lucky, but just FYI.

He's right its not a defective screen protector.

I have JETTech and ESR screen protectors designed to work on the 6/7/8 and reviews are good there. I installed them many times on iPhone 6s. But on SE 2020 they lift majorly at the ages. Went through 3 protectors of different brands. The screen is definitely different.

this one? Did you leave the user review too or was that someone else? Seems like only one person out of the few that reviewed it said it worked

Can we see a pic too?

This sounds more hopeful others will come to market, but not sure I want to gamble $25 on 2 screen protectors with mixed results for now.

are you going to try the vegetable oil / QTip trick or just keep it as is until you find a good solution?

Yes that's the one. And yes I left the all-positive review. It looks like one review clearly stated theirs didn't work, but a couple others seem to indicate it did. Pictures attached (including the back, showing my 8 case that doesn't have the proper hole on the back for the SE's moved Apple logo, just so you know it's the new SE, and not an 8 ;)).

looks good! wasn't asking to call you out , haha by all means reviews are good just looking for more data points

I wonder why this one works for you, since it doesn't look any shorter on the sides
