    Hello,

I have seen several threads based around Glimmer Blocker but none of the solutions have ever helped me.

As far as I am aware, I have never installed Glimmer Blocker and it doesn't show in 'library' at all.

Yet, whenever I install a software update (I am a Beta Tester) I get this error message every time. Anyone know how to stop it?

    Thanks,
    Adam

    Etrecheck

Download and Run Etrecheck and that will create an anonymized report showing all hidden launch and startup items. If you can't figure it out from the report, post the report here for us to have a look.

It looks like GlimmerBlocker is not running, but rather only installed and the updater is letting you know it is not compatible.

Have you tried looking in the System Preferences and following this to get rid of it.

Yes, that's what I am experiencing.

I cannot find a trace of it anywhere, it doesn't show under system preferences.

I have tried the 'hard remove' option in the link above but it doesn't show anywhere under proxies.

If you go to this folder, do you you see the GlimmerBlocker pref pane file?

    Code:
    /Library/PreferencePanes/

Hmm... try installing this file search app and search for GlimmerBlocker and see what it turns up.

Well heck then... I am kinda at a loss here. If it was on there that app would find it. I'm wondering if this is just a bug in the beta you are testing where it is mis-identifying something else as GlimmerBlocker?

I know, me too. It doesn't effect anything that I can find it just really annoys me when I do an update and it gives me the error message (I'm a bit OCD like that...)

It possibly is just the beta version...

    Thank you anyway for trying.

I've just looked in Activity Monitor under processes and it says GlimmerBlockerProxy running...

We can do something with this! Select that in Activity Monitor then click the letter I (info) in the menu bar. Then go to Open Files and Ports tab like in my screenshot. That should show you what is running and where the files are.

Really off iFileX found nothing though.
