I bought a refurb Macbook Air which arrived a few days ago. So far loving pretty much everything about it, except for a problem I'm having with a USB thumb drive.

I bought it to store my iTunes library on to save on internal storage space. I've noticed that sometimes after sleeping, iTunes playback is glitchy, in that it plays a song for a few seconds then jumps to the next in the playlist and so on. If I find the MP3 song in finder and preview it by pressing space bar, it also glitches, with the audio jumping around.

If I close down iTunes, eject the drive and then put it back in, iTunes then plays the same tunes that were glitchy before perfectly well. So my question really....Is this a known problem? Has anybody else had issues with external USB drives behaving strangely after sleep and wake up?

Many thanks

Could someone with a 2013 MBA (or maybe even any MBA) using a USB stick for iTunes library media try and replicate this? ie:

1) Insert USB drive
2) Start up iTunes
3) Select a few songs and let them play for 15 seconds or so
4) Close the lid and let machine sleep for 30 seconds
5) Open the lid and try playing the same tunes as before to see if they play correctly or not.

I'd really appreciate it if someone could try this.....I can replicate the issue every time. At step 5 from above, the audio plays for a few seconds and then goes on to the next track, then the next etc. Only way to get normal playback is to close iTunes, eject the USB drive, insert it again and launch iTunes.

OK. Tried doing this with my Macbook Pro and get the same results. So it's either an OSX / iTunes bug or it's down to my USB Memory stick.

Hmmmm
