Why does the price drop $150 when you choose glossy instead of matte on the new mbps? Also, the base 17" MPB is 2,799, but when you upgrade to the High-Resolution display, instead of adding $100, it takes $50 off.

Is it a mistake?

I'd say so! Hmm...QUICK BUY IT NOW!

BTW, the Chat lady said that mistake is being fixed right now. It was reported by someone already.

No clue why.

It might be getting harder to get matte screens (doubtful) or Apple is trying to go all glossy now.
