When I spend £1000 or over on products I expect good craftsmanship. The words "MacBook Pro" printed below the screen is just decals - Pathetic:mad:

dude, just enjoy your macbook pro and stop worrying about the small things. everything gets wear and tear with use, it's a fact of life.

I am sick and tired of being too careful with this thing and it still gets marks, stains and material deterioration:mad: Yikes, with the ridiculous price this thing was I am getting scared of using it any longer. You'd think that with the ridiculously high price Mr Jobs sells those things for that they would design longer lasting materials that don't deteriorate.

Please get a toshiba laptop and move your complaints to a toshiba web site.

Yeah, well I'd expect complaints with Toshiba but I expected better from Apple.

If a Macbook Pro and any of the other macs that I own weren't so damn expensive then I wouldn't worry about scratches and marks and I wouldn't complain. I expect better durability if I pay more for something even though I have been very careful with my macs and I have only had my MacBook Pro for 4 months and rarely used.

See, there's your problem. You used it. To keep it pristine, you should have left it in the box.

I said RARELY used. The woman who sold it to me said the Macbook Pro was never used and brand new but I have my suspicions that its a refurb.

Its probably best just to end this topic because no one has the slightest idea (including myself) of what the gloss stain is and how to clean it (even though I have provided photos). Also, I don't think the printed MacBook Pro logo on the screen has anything to do with it.

Its just when its positioned in a certain angles in the light that it becomes noticable and distracting.

Depending on the lighting angle, the glossiness you may be seeing is possibly reflections off the macbook pro shining onto your rubber thing, my friends seems to do that frequently.

Only problem is that when shown against the light, it is obvious it is a "smudge" as if its wear as the rest of the rubber is matt except for this 1 inch long gloss "smudge" and when I look very closely at the rubber I also notice it without the help from light.
