No, the top needs to not have any metal devices on top, because they obstruct wireless signals. The mini is cooled with intake ports on the bottom, and a exit port on the back. The top has nothing to do with cooling

Then why does Apple not suggest stacking the Mac mini?

it would be cool if you could stack minis, but i doubt that would be good for the machine

Yeah, I totally don't know about that. The other person's post saying he/she'd seen pics of it made me want to google for it, and when I found it, I just posted them. ;)

I don't know what would be the point, either, from the standpoint that it'd probably still be slower than the slowest DP G5. :D

Because it would interrupt wireless signals, as Peyote suggested.

Sorry, my comment was made on the original pages about the Mac mini on apple.com. Decided to look in the knowledge base to see what I could find, and you all were right. My bad.

OK, here's the response from Plasticsmith.com concerning pics of the glowing Mac mini skirt:
Clay,

I will ask our webmaster about having some photos included "in the dark", however, you can take my word for it that they are wonderfully mood-setting and classy and will be soothing on nerves at the end of the work day.

If you decide to buy and don't think it measures up, you have the freedom to return it for a full refund, including original shipping.

Thanks for taking the time to write,
