Perhaps not...7.0.1 could be released to the masses instead of the GM version. New devices will then have to be updated to 7.0.1 when opened and activated.
To release this GM for the iPad is disgraceful!
I agree iOS 7 for the iPad is not on par with the iPhone versions, but it is (finally) actually usable and stable. I highly doubt however that Apple is going to ship the new iPads with unpolished software, so I think Apple is just going to release iOS 7.0 to avoid fragmentation and release iOS 7.(0.)1 somewhere in October that is further optimized for the iPad.

Totally misunderstood what I was saying. I was replying to the person I quoted, who was thinking quick reply would be added in next weeks official release. I was pointing out that it's not in the GM, therefore not going to be in next weeks release.

Only once has GM not been final release, out of the last few years, so you're right, but there is only a small chance. I reckon 7.0.1 will pop up in a month or so. Mind you, no problems on the iPad 2 & 4 running in my house, so it's a mixed bag.

nope, there was a public fw that was fixed after a GM and was not 0.1 ;)

The only time they did that was with 4.2 I believe. It didn't coincide with the release of new hardware so a new GM could be issued. GMs issued with new hardware are already installed on current devices so an update (NOT a new GM) must be made available. They're not gonna unpack all those iPhone 5Cs and 5Ss and start replacing the GMs with a newer one.

GM we got is what is in all the devices being deployed now and will be showing up in customer hands next week. They were loaded weeks ago onto the 5c/5s before shipping.

If there was going to be another GM like they did before, it would already be out.

Hope for a quick 7.x.x

Your probably right, but there still is the chance as it has happened in the past. Look at when they released OS 10.7 (I believe that was the version). The ones that were released to the dev's and later the public were the same builds, but the version that came preloaded in the MBs, MBPs, and MBAs was slightly a slightly tweaked and different version,so it has happened.

You're correct, but they released a new GM which ended up being the public release. Regardless of how many they release, the GM still ends up being the public release.

Yes but the question is will this GM release be the same that gets released to the public and the answer was Yes once it gets GM status that is the public release. I was just pointing out that it has varied in the past. You semantics of saying but the GM is the one released to the public, although true, doesn't support that just because something is a GM, it will automatically be the one released to the public.

It can't be any different since the GM is already installed in tons of iPhone 5C and 5S phones. There might be a quick 7.0.1 update that might come out or something like that, but that's really the only possibility.
Unless some major bug needs fixed, this is it until new iPads come out.

...iPads won't get iOS 7.0. A new build will be released for new iPads when they are available, and, at that time, they will likely get iOS 7.0.1...perhaps this will also be a minor glitch/bug-fix update for iPhones as well.

maybe better ;)

18/9 gm-final
19/9 7.0.1

there is no way they are going to release 7.0 on wednesday and then release 7.0.1 the following day (thursday) we are either getting the same GM we have now on wednesday as the final release or they are gonna release another build such as 7.0.1 on wednesday.

If something needs to get fixed and released it will still be a new update that will be available for those that have the GM, so it's not like those with the GM will somehow not have the latest released build as they could update to it if/when one is released.

As for iPads, how do we know they won't get 7.0 or basically the same thing that the phones and other devices are getting at the same time? Simply guessing isn't really evidence of anything.
