Gmail and Mail, limit email date

One of my clients has 12,000+ gmail emails. I'm trying to set her up with IMAP Gmail in Mail. Is there anyway I can say, "don't import emails older than 1 year"? Please help! 😱

No. There's no way to control what Mail imports other than deleting them off the server.
