I am pretty sure it's the case but can I confirm that there is still no official Gmail app for the Apple Watch???

I don't want to use the Apple Mail app for various reasons and I need to receive my emails every time I leave the house without my iPhone!

I already had the Gmail app installed on my phone when I got my watch, and it automatically transferred over with all the other compatible apps. I don’ know if there’s a specific watch app, but I get gmails on my watch now. I have the GPS model without cellular, and connect through WiFi if that matters.

Very strange, i cannot see it inside the watch app. Are you using the LTE watch? If yes, do you get notifications on your watch when you leave your phone behind?

I edited my post to answer that, a little too late :)

Do you have the phone app? If so, did it transfer over with the others?

Obviously I do have the phone app otherwise how on earth will I receive the emails on my iPhone ?!

As I mentioned already the app does NOT appear inside the watch app.

Gmail doesn’t have an  Watch app. You can see it here if an app does support watch app..

Thanks.

What an awful company Google has become.

In that case what do you guys use to get your gmail on the watch? Is the builtin Mail app the only way?

Using any of the gazillion other email apps?

Spark is pretty good.

Also, IMHO, it's way better than Gmail on the iPhone--I like that there are 4 swipes you can set up.

Many thanks, will give Spark a go.

Looks like Microsoft Outlook is also available for the Apple watch. Has anyone been using that?

I use Outlook for work...mainly just use it for notifications and to read the first couple sentences of the email...works great. The delete button works fine too.

I've tried Spark and I seem to like it but does anyone know why it doesn't group multiple similar emails from the same sender under the same thread like Gmail does.

Nothing for GMail.

I really want to use Spark, but there's not LTE support from when I last tried it a few months ago.

Outlook for the Watch has been worked on and is better. That's my go to for now.

That feature has just not been implemented. That’s it. Threaded messaging is a specific feature in any email client.

Spark does that on the iPhone, but not the AW unfortunately.

You might try Outlook as others have suggested. On iPhone it was very, very close to Spark and I only picked Spark because it supported 4 swipes and I think Outlook only supported 2 or 3. I have not tried Outlook on AW though.

Thanks.

YouTube app on iPad still doesn’t have PiP after all these years so you’re absolutely right that Google has become an awful company.

it is inside the Mail app (iphone - watch app - Mail - accounts - gmail -> need to be signed in). there you can activate the gmail - for me it is working on that way. althought i dont have the lte watch, so i dont know if it fetch new mails via lte, but i dont see why not...
