Is there a way to stop the gmail app from opening links in emails with chrome?

Is there a way to stop the gmail app from opening links in emails with chrome?

Under settings inside gmail app go to Google apps and un-select Google chrome.

Ok I did what you said but the Gmail app still opens links within the app itself. I would expect if there was a web link in an email and I clicked it the link would open with safari but I guess not.

Well, after gmail opens the link within itself, on the bottom right arrow, you can manually choose to open it in safari.
