Gmail guru's? Resetting IMAP/Mail settings.

I don't quite understand imap email however I've been trying to understand it. So I went in the imap settings and folders and messed around with it and now it's acting weird between my iPhone, which now is saying that it can't move the message to the trash for some reason which I'm sure I did.

So my question is...is there a way to reset Gmail back to it's original settings so I can fix my gmail email?

Thanks and I've followed those instruction before however my problems stem from me changing some folders in gmail and deleting some and hiding some. So my problems are more than just setting up the iPhone and Apple Mail, mine are because some of my original folders are no longer there or are hidden or whatever happened to them.

I just need to find a way to get all of gmails account settings back to their original configuration.

I hope someone understands what I'm trying to do here.
