Apple's posing this as its a gmail problem, however i think they missed the boat.

What's happening, in Apple mail using IMAP, after "Checking for new messages", Emptying the Trash folder from all mailboxes I often get view in "Mail activity" pane that i have incoming messages .... the figures can be any number.

This is irreverent, because i do not have that much mail on server when i login via the web in any folder.

In Apple mail i only have 11 messages, and I've tested this with Outook.com (imap via Apple mail), and that's ok...

Anyone else experiencing this issue?

If it was a Gmail server only, then why would the consistent number of messages it Apple mail "thinks" i have. when in fact, i have no new messages at all. ? (Attached)

I think it is because that Gmail does not really delete messages. It just tags them as being deleted... but they are still there.

If you log into gmail through a browser... and you select "all mail"... how much mail is on the Gmail servers?

In my case, if I log into one of my Gmail accounts... it appears to be empty, but if I select "all mail"... then I have over 20,000 messages.

Well then, I am stumped, unless they are in your Amcom account. You are definitely loading nearly 1500 of something per the status bar.

Update:

Judging by the amount of screenshots i took, this is probably the best one..

I think i found a patten... while the Mail activity is saying "Incoming mail" when there isn't any, all of these issues point to "syncing folders with server",

Trash, Sent items, Deleted items etc...

However, this still wouldn't explain why Mail Activity pane still reckons i have heaps of mail

Perhaps this is one of those "generic" errors ?
