    Hello,

I recently ditched Hotmail (been a long time coming) and set myself up a Gmail account, simply because I heard it's really good for iPhone/Mac/browser "syncing"...

When I receive an email on my Gmail account, it appears in Mail on my Mac just fine, but it doesn't appear in my iPhone unless I force it to download new messages by clicking the little circular arrow in the Mail App.

My University email account works just how I want it to... I make changes on my Mac, and it automatically does the same thing on my iPhone and the web browser version.

Should I set Gmail up as an exchange account on my iPhone?

    Thank you!

Yes, set up Gmail as an Exchange on your iPhone.

Even though it says "Microsoft Exchange"? Sorry, I'm pretty bad with mail on iOS...

What do I put as the domain too? and description?

    Many thanks :)

Aaah thank you! This helps a lot!

(By having missing features in iOS, google appears to be subtly pushing people toward android.)

Also, if you use multiple google calendars, make sure you follow the link at the bottom of the google sync page, to set up your calendars.

    Ahhh I see... Shame.

I only use iCal for my calendar so I'm okay as far as planning my time goes! It's just email...

Gmail is a million times better than hotmail IMO anyway! Glad I switched.

If you give iCould email a go, you might like it as well. I hate how my spam'ed email still comes through to my gmail account (only) on my iPhone, so I forward all my emails to my @mac.com address. Keeps a copy on gmail if I need it, get all the benefits of using one system to rule them all.

I might consider doing this at some point... what does "forwarding" involve?
