Gmail Notifier - WON'T set Mail.app as Default!

Gmail Notifier has Mail.app set as the default app, yet everytime I receive new mail - yet it still opens in Safari every time.

I find this very frustrating as I already have my Gmail account set up in Mail.app.

Any help would be appreciated. 🙂
