its something simple guys , everytime i use Wi-fi to check my email from my iPhone , the emails still remain in the inbox(when i check from my iMac) even if i delete them from my iPhone, for example:

i get an email from someone, i delete it then i empty the trash in Gmail from my iPhone, two hours latter i check my email again but this time using my iMac or any other computer and i see that same messege there in my inbox!!

any help guys would be appreciated, thanks.

That's likely because gmail uses POP3 so it doesn't synch up across different "inboxes." To get that sort of feature, you'd need the email protocol known as IMAP. dotmac uses that, so does AOL, and I'm not sure which other major email services allow for IMAP.

Yes, I believe so. Of course, that's also dependent on what you mean by "inbox." On your Mac, do you use Mail.app? If so, you have the option to delete from within Mail.app and have it also delete from gmail's servers, IIRC. So there's also that to consider: whether or not you want gmail's servers' copy of your emails to stay intact or whatnot.

Yes, it's because GMail is only POP3.

The best you can do is to enable GMail to forward to an IMAP account. Do you have another email account, like .mac?

nope, i just use one Gmail account for everything.. if i am not making this up i think if i download the Gmail app to my iPhone i would be able to delete emails forever from my iPhone (that includes deleting them even when i check my Gmail using Safari from my iMac) , right ? or is it the same thing as using Mail in the iPhone?

it's kind of a pain, but in order to check my gmail, i use www.gmail4iphone.com it's a 3rd party site so you may want to be careful using it... but its layout is much nicer to use and see on the iphone screen

Yeah, but this is the iPhone. That's basically like trying to run wmplayer.exe in OSX. Not gonna work.

In Safari you can't download and save anything. On the iPhone you can't run any apps unless you jailbreak it and copy the programs over. It is not possible to install third party apps without hacking the iPhone, and even then, they need to be written specifically for the iPhone, which the Gmail mobile app is not. Even with Google's involvement with the iPhone, I doubt Apple would allow them to release a future app that is gmail only since they already have built in email and that would look redundant to Apple, whether we like it or not. Apple is all about simplicity. I'm sure there will be further updates to the mail app in the iPhone improving it's functionality, but you will have to be patient and wait for those, or wait for Apple to open development and then Google will make one. Google won't make a hacked gmail app, it's unprofessional.

    Use Safari

A simple solution would be to just use the safari web browser on your iPhone and go to www.gmail.com. This would allow you to change what is actually on the gmail server.
