iPhone Gmail password never saved

I've not had this problem until iOS 9.3. Suddenly Safari won't save my Gmail password (although I see it in the password list) and I need to user name and password each time I want to log in to Gmail. Any tips on how to resolve this would be much appreciated.

Make sure Safari is not in private mode.

This problem started occurring for me with 9.3.2Beta 1. Still current in Beta 3.

Make sure Safari is not in private mode.
