Could somebody please help me convert Godfather 2 into 1 file.

I am starting with ripped DVDs. Beyond that I am stuck. I have movie only rips, but DVD2OneX fails to combine them because it's over 9.4 gb. If I use the compression option of DVD2oneX, will that ruin the final quality of the movie on Apple TV (compressed file being compressed again?).

I am familiar with DVD2onex and handbrake and doing this seems beyond those two programs. Any help would be great. Also, I would like to try and keep the 5.1 surround sound if possible. Thanks in advance guys!

Read this posting on the Handbrake forums, it will tell you everything you need to know. It all works.

    Regards,
    Michael

You can either set the file output size to 9200MB in DTOX and suffer a bit of compression, or you can encode both discs separately and join them together in QuickTime. I'd use DTOX, as then you get a nice file with chapter markers. You likely won't notice much difference in the picture quality. The Godfather Part 2 is a really horrible transfer anyway.

    Dtox 2.3

As stated in the news page of the DVD2one.com website:

New advanced option: support for dvd-video filesets bigger than 9GB:
The extra data is place in the 9th VOB file (thanks to Blutach for the idea!).
This option can be used to create large joins for re-encoding with other tools.
The output plays perfectly fine with Apple DVD player, VLC, PowerDVD and Media Player Classic.
Please note that dvd-video filesets bigger than 9GB are not compliant and may not work properly with other 3rd party tools or dvd players.

    Use the latest DVD2oneX 2.3

Thanks for that info. I didn't know about that option in 2.3.

I did not know that either. Took me a minute to find that option and turn it on. Godfather trilogy here we come!

Thanks all for the help, hope you all have an awesome weekend!

Yet another method I've used with decent results:
    Rip seperately
Convert to mp4 seperately using Handbrake
    Join with MPEG Streamclip

And if you want to mess with the chapters you can then use MetaX.

Mostly all freeware except for perhaps the ripping.
