1. Will my bands from my 42 work with the 44?

2. Is silver stainless more durable than black stainless re: scratching?

I'm partial to the silver, but I'm looking at an AT&T purchase. They only have the stainless in black.

1. Yes all 42 mm bands work with the 44 mm size.
2. From comments on these forums, it seems the silver SS is a little more durable than the black or gold when it comes to showing scratches.

Yes Apple bands will work, most 3rd party bands will work with some exceptions. There is at least one specific brand I know of that has been discussed somewhere on the forum whose lugs will not fit.

From what I've read on the forums, the Black Stainless has greater durability due to the coating process, but the advantage of silver stainless is that it can be buffed with Cape Cod cloths.

Wow, good to know the Black can take it. I guess I'll gift my brown straps to my friend and order the Black Stainless. I do have some some black and blue bands that should work. I guess we will see if they work. Thanks for the info!

I have space gray sometimes wear a brown leather strap, I find it to pair nicely to be honest. I'm sure your friend would appreciate the gift if you decide it's not a great match but I'd at least give it a shot.

You can play with colors and the watch here:

Hey Thanks for the link. Never knew it existed. Ordered the black Apple Watch. Hope it blows away my Apple Watch 2. My kid will get the 2.

I'm surprised the brown selections look pretty darn good. Well at least I'll kick a couple of the browns to my buddy thanks to your advice.

I went from AW 2 to AW 4 and I think you will be pleasantly surprised by how much improved AW 4 is. Much faster to load apps and updates, screen size increase, speaker, Siri, digital crown. I also really like the slimmer profile on the wrist, it's not as tall as AW 2. I still make use of my 2 in certain circumstances so it's certainly still very much usable, I'm sure your kid will enjoy it. Here's hoping you enjoy the Series 4 as much as most of us do.

Many thanks! The speed of my Apple Watch 2 seemed slow. If the 4 can do better I'm all in. Have a
Yuengling on me ;)

The black stainless is the way to go if you don’t like seeing scratches. The regular 316 L stainless is a very ‘soft’ stainless and scratches relatively easily. Aside from the sapphire display, The black stainless is virtually impervious to scratches due to the ‘Diamond like Carbon’ (DLC), which has been the model I owned, and not also does it look sleek, but there are quite a few band pairing options as well.
