just thinking out loud, sort of. Last summer, i sold my mid 2011 iMac base model (21.5 inch) and bought a then current 15" MBP (mid 2015) with 512SSD and 2 GB video card. The iMac performed flawlessly for me for 5 great years!
I went with the MBP because i thought i would use it on the go, and hadn't had a MBP since 2011; so a change up incited me. Honestly, i have only taken it out of the house maybe 3 times since last summer.
Now i am thinking of selling the MBP (has AppleCare until Feb 2019) and getting another iMac. I am a "photographer" (isn't everyone?), so i use this mostly for that. When i was in the market for the new computer, i was looking at the 2015 model i think (maybe it was the 2014 model - which ever one had the faster video card)
This is my story The new ones look nice, but am not opposed to a refurbished model either. An SSD is probably a must though.
