Ok so I have this problem every year when trading in my current watch for a new one and that is that no matter what I do, when I reset my old watch to sell out on, it is still linked to my account so can I just double check the process with you guys.

Unpair watch
Save data plan
Disable activation lock if applicable
Remove watch from iCloud (using my Mac)
Remove from Find My (using my Mac)

Is that the correct process?

Yep those are the instructions I followed for last couple of years but still my phone is locked into my account when I’ve sold it it

Really? I never did anything else and it was always ok … weird.

Edit: „phone is locked“? We‘re talking about the Watch, right?

FYI… I had to remove the watch manually from Find My almost everytime I unpaired it for resale or giving it away. The support doc assumes that their process is working… but it‘s not ;-)

Yeah I agree as the process doesn’t really seem to work so did you remove from find my and then from the cloud?

So weird … no problems with that for me, either. I sold my S6 recently (anticipating the S7 launch, of course) and just checked - the old Watch is definitely gone from my Find My. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

As long as you go into Apple Watch settings app and erase all that should be enough it should disappear.

Yeah you are probably right but the first thing I need to do is to unpair so that I can save my data plan in readiness for the next watch.
Then I would have to repair and then reset it using factory settings

If it‘s still in both cloud and FM, I remove it from the cloud first. Sometimes it just remains in FM after unpairing
