Need help with similar problem! Thanks in advance!

(This ended up being quite long, but I wanted to make it as easy as possible for someone to help me, so please bear with me. Thanks!)

Hello. I've been having a similar problem as the ones discussed in this thread, but I haven't been able to work out a solution from those already given, so I'm hoping someone who has given assistance in this thread would be willing to help me. I'll try to be as detailed as possible in describing my situation.

I have a 250GB hard drive, and am running Snow Leopard.
A week ago, I opened my computer to find the alert that I was out of hard drive space. I was already only running with around 10GB, and I was due to clean. So, after getting rid of miscellaneous unneeded files, as well as running Disk Inventory X and finding that after burning some DVD's, there were massive temporary files sitting on my drive, I ended up with about 35GB.
The next morning, I was already down to 28GB. Over then next few days, I watched the disc space slowly, consistently drop. I would delete more files, clear more space, but the disc space would simply continue to deplete.
It was at 9.2GB when I started typing this, and has dropped to 8.06GB at this point now.

I looked around and tried several solutions. First, I downloaded OmniDiskSweeper, and after running it several times, there doesn't seem to be anything abnormally large that I could find.
I also ran the script from post #2 of this thread in Terminal, and while I'm not very experienced with Terminal, I didn't notice anything abnormally large there as well. The /private file is 42GB, but is only swapfiles, and I understand that they are necessary and normal. I also haven't noticed those files growing significantly over the past few days.

I think it's worth mentioning that a few months ago, I experienced two kernel panics within a few days of each other. I looked online, and found that I needed to boot using my install disc, which I did, and then repaired my hard drive. When I run Disc Utility now, it tells me that my hard drive appears to be OK, and I haven't experienced any other problems of that nature since.

I also ran OnyX today, and when it verified my disc, it reported that it was okay.

I understand that disc space fluctuates, but with mine consistently dropping no matter how much space I free up, I don't think it's a matter of caches filling up.

I don't have an Apple store near me, so I'm hoping someone can help me here.
Thank you so much for your time!
