My very first Mac desktop order. Holy crap was that a lot of money. Note that this was with the student discount. The sadistic folks over there sent the monitor early, so I had to stare at it for two days while I waited for the computer.

Note the practice of shorting the RAM. I ordered from OWC (or Crucial) at the same time, saved myself several hundred dollars in the process too.

This wonderful machine served me well for a bit more than 6 years. It later was donated to a school to replace an aging Quadra that was used by the teacher.

What year was this? Interesting bit of history. Looks like ordered online, good information about shipping dates, one of the positive customer experiences about buying Apple gear.

Wow...I can't imagine paying that much for a computer. Really cool piece of history though! Thanks for sharing. :)
I'm a cheapskate, so numbers like that make me cringe. :p My first computer that I bought for myself was the desktop I built in 9th grade (it'll turn 10 in a couple months). Paid $400 at the time. There have been some upgrades since then (SSD, RAM, and a new GPU), but I'm still using it.
