No you aren't - anybody can upload anything!

You could easily download the trial of Photoshop, replace the main binary with a rootkit or other malware, repackage it as Photoshop.real.nokeyrequired.PROPER and propagate it all over the world.

even file size and extension can be manipulated. In aquisition, most files that have a title exactly like your search string and the mp3 extension are fake.

Prostitutes in Vietnam use limewire? I didn't know that. I didn't see any macbooks when I was visiting them. 😀

I bet its some kinky sex thing they do for computer guys. What could be hotter than watching your Vietnamese prostitute use limewire on leopard? Woooo!

Thanks for the feedback.
I wish I came here b4 using limewire.
I knew I been had when the song had no sound just played in the endless loop.
Could not even delete it. Deleting itunes and limewire applications, empty g.bin in safe mode (6hrs) did not work as fully as I hoped.

My safari freeses still when I open yahoo mail.... a few minute ago it closed and the info came on in a small window saying i have an XP virus and they are the only one the remove. I had this b4 4 years ago, and lost my hard drive as I would not pay them. Then I promptly swiched to Mac and will NEVER use a PC again. I feel like a real chump for using limewire. Even though I was real careful to look at everything b4 downloading still.
Any suggestions? Any programs I can buy that could help me isolate and disinfect?
I will NOT PAY a dime to lowlife who try to profit by virus transit.
(help me clean up my precious baby please)
Thanks a million

Yup, I have had zero problems with Limewire. Actually, I have been known to purposely download things with viruses on Limewire and put them all into a little folder and call it "Viruses" because they don't do anything and it's funny 😀

No, No, and thrice again No! Limewire can and will cause huge issues for you.
Firstly (and entirely unrelated to most other issues) downloading large quantities of files via p2p can cause overlap files. This is due to the way they save files from multiple hosts. Overlap files are very difficult to fix. You need DW or TT or similar.
Secondly, there are huge quantities of risks associated with sharing files, and possible security holes in p2p programs.
Finally, In my experience (I work as a Mac/PC tech support specialist) things that you download are tricky to get rid of, as is Limewire itself.

I haven't had any problems. But then again, I only use it occassionally when the songs I want aren't available thru Itunes.

If you want to keep your mac pure. Run fusion. Set up a Windows or better yet, an Umbutu VM and run it on that. If you run it as a restricted user, you should be ok.

But before polluting your vm with limewire, though, make a clone of it. so when it becomes infected, you just delete it and make another copy of the pristine clone.

Safe and easy.

VMs are a godsend. make use of them. With VM's you can have a "disposable" machine that you can recreate, in a Virginal state in 5 minutes.

While they're good in OSX, they're even better in windows. VMs can be used to combat the dreaded registry bloat. Want to try a new app, but am unsure it will uninstall properly or plunge you into dll hell, run it in a vm. Then throw away that vm when you are done.

Its so elegantly great, I'm . . . getting a bit excited. /

Thanks

donmei - I prefer nothing of windows on my mac. If I did not loose my G4 Titanium powerbook- they broke my screen at the airport - I would be still with that model.
What CAN I do now that it is infected?
I'm not really a techno wiz so as simple as possible PLEASE.
If you know of a link somewhere I would be very much obliged.
Thanks again.....

elaborate

nb705 - thank you I think your on the right track regarding my issue.
I tried to look up the suggestion - not finding it.
