I cannot afford the 30 bucks a month for the iphone, the 20 was ok but that was all I could do. First off, is the 30 bucks a month official? Also, will there be a price reduction for the touches any time soon?
With the exception of:
Phone, 3G/Edge data, SMS, Camera, GPS
the itouch has the exact same specs, right? I won't really miss out on much, and I won't have to switch providers?

The touch is 100 more for an on par GB, and if the monthly costs arent your thing, then dont do it.

There is no particular reason to expect a price reduction in the iPod Touches. The only reason the phones are so cheap is because of the AT&T subsidies.

you get $200 off and pay $10 extra a month, the iPhones data plan before was one of the cheapest data plans out there, $35 a month is the going rate for blackberry data

It still costs a lot of money- 35 bucks a month (with texting) so it is not worth it. I simply cannot afford the recurring fees. I have to get a touch, I think. Is the pricing official yet? How about the other questions?

Because of the current back to school special, I don't see updates/price drops for the iPod touches till after September.

Don't get confused by only comparing the initial costs. The touch costs $299... total. There will be no future costs. The iphone costs $199 + (~$70 x 24 months) for $1880. The touch is an ipod and the iphone is.. well... a phone. So it's really an apples vs oranges comparison.

BTW: if you want to buy a touch, wait until the 2.0 firmware is released so you get it for free. Otherwise Apple will charge you $20 to upgrade.

I guess the question I have to ask myself is how much do I want mobile internet everywhere, and would I be willing to pay $40/month for it for two years?

Sure, the iPhone would allow me this option and I'm sure it'd be awesome. But paying a couple thousand dollars over the course of two years for it? Should I just get an iPod Touch, and use wi-fi instead?

I need to do some thinking...

Mobile internet is free on the Ipod Touch.

That free ipod touch thing, was that only with the purchase of a macbook or could you get a free itouch if you bought something like OSX upgrade?

Thanks. I am in college, but I don't want to buy a new mac or anything. I guess I'll pony up 500 bucks for a touch tomorrow.

Used? I'd rather buy new, and it has to be 32 gigs. I'd buy used if it were reputable and in good condition, and a great price lol

First of all, it's $30/month for two years. Second of all, over two years, that adds up to $720. Nowhere near a couple thousand.

I think it's stupid they raised the price by $10 a month, but I'm just one of a lot of people who are willing to pay it.

Can anyone give a full list of the things that are different between the Ipod tough and the new 3G iphone?
