I love my iPhone 11 and I recently bought the new iPhone SE and I have got to say, it’s my most favourite iPhone design to date. I know the design is the same as the iPhone 8 but I just love the centred Apple logo and seamless curves which meets the glass and I’m not going to lie I’m going to miss the rounded edges when the iPhone 12 comes out. Am I the only one who prefers the curves to the expected squared off edges?

Most people snap their iPhones into a case so the edge geometry, round or square doesn't matter to them.
A square edge provides a more secure grip than the current slippery bar of soap curved edge design.
While I always use a case, making the edge design irrelevant to me, I look forward to the square edge because (personally) I think the current slippery design is an ergonomic nightmare.

If those dummies are how it will really look then I don’t mind so much. My 4S and 5S still feel great in my hand. Heck even my 7 feels good compared to my Max lol. I love how my phone feels when it’s naked, but I have it in a case so it negates the feel in exchange for handiness. I still have a year and a half with this phone unless I buy it out. By that time the 12 will be in the next models shadow. When there is a vaccine I will go out and feel it because I really am curious. Until then I will try my best to avoid you all as much as possible in public no offense 🙃

My thoughts exactly. I keep removing the case off of my 11 pro max and I come close to dropping it and put it back on, then the phone feels too big so I take it off again. The struggle is real...

Here's another YAY for the curved edges. I have three phones now that have the curved edges because I want to stock up before the squared ones come out. You know, people keep getting excited about the squared-off edges coming, and I feel like I'm someone who loves the Summer Olympics when everyone is all excited about the Winter Olympics. So it's nice to see another track-and-field fan. :)

The 11 is the first phone I have gone case less with, I only did that cause I was planning to upgrade to the 12 and I have AppleCare. Anyways my new phone will go in a case and the whatever the smallest one coming out is. So the design doesn’t matter to much to me. But at some point I know I’ll say screw it and ditch the case. I think the square will be fine.

Personally, I prefer squared-off iPhones. It gives it a modern and straightforward look.

Loved the square edges on my old iPhone 5 and meant i didnt have to use a case which i much preferred. When i swapped to a 6S i had to put it in a case if only for the fact i couldnt keep hold of the thing and use it as the curved edges didnt let you get a good hold of it.

I don’t know if I’ll miss the rounded edges per se, but I was one that thought it would have been cool if the 2018 iPad Pros and beyond had adopted completely rounded sides like the iPhone 6-11 models. Uniformity means more to me than the shape of the edges. Just happy my iOS devices will look alike moving forward.

I hated the sharp edges of the iPhone 4 - 5S. But I demo'd the 12 Pro Max dummy model for a week and it was honestly fine. It should be much better this time out because they are going to mimic the rounded edges of the iPad Pro. Also I noticed with the 12 Pro Max I almost always use it with two hands, unlike the smaller flat edged iPhones of the past. If you are using a case it's unlikely you will even notice the flat edges. AND I found the flat edges are easier to pick up versus the rounded edges of my case-less 8 Plus.

I never really thought about it being easier to pick up from a flat surface, but yeah - makes sense. I keep a case on my phones and always will I’m sure, so it’s a non-issue for me, but I’m sure at some point I’ll own one (at least I hope I will) if they can improve the OLED.

I really liked the designs of iPhone 4 and 5. I feel iPhone 12 will make the iPhone 11 look dated.

Curved edges on iPhones are gorgeous, but terrible for ergonomics.

Definitely not. Curved edges are meant to contour to the hand comfortably (And please don’t use the ‘slippery’ argument due to rounded design). What it comes down to, ergonomics depends on one’s hand size and the overall size of the phone. I’ve never had an issue with the rounded edges being ergonomically frustrating based on my grip. In Terms of accountability and ergonomics, the rounded design simply just works. If we start discussing the squared edges for example on the 2016 iPhone SE, those became slightly uncomfortable given a sharp edges for one-handed use, which there was a few threads on that very topic.

Okay I think I prematurely hit 'like'--I wouldn't say the ergonomics are terrible. I just know that many people find them more difficult to grip. Personally, I like the curve better aesthetically and ergonomically. Hold my iPP carves into my hands. Found the smoother edges easier on my flesh. However, my point in 'liking' still remains: I like that you pointed out that we might like the look of something more than the use of something: good point. :)
