So I'm currently with verizon but plan on switching to tmobile. I would do the transfer when I purchase the new iphone x. From a bit of research it seems I should still buy the verizon version of the phone through the apple upgrade program (which I'm currently on) since it contains all the necessary bands for both verizon and tmobile. So I could go to tmobile without any worries. If I land up not liking tmobile during the trial period, I could just switch back to verizon with the same phone. Just checking to see if I have this right and if it wouldn't be a problem to use the verizon version on tmobile. The one thing that would worry me is if the tmobile version has capability to use the new 71 band (600mhz) by a software update, since its not listed in the specs.

  • Model A1865*
  • FDD-LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 66)
  • TD-LTE (Bands 34, 38, 39, 40, 41)
  • TD-SCDMA 1900 (F), 2000 (A)
  • CDMA EV-DO Rev. A (800, 1900, 2100 MHz)
  • UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz)
  • GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
  • Model A1901*
Model A1901 does not support CDMA networks, such as those used by Verizon and Sprint.

  • FDD-LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 66)

No iPhone this year at least will support band 71

Yes, I would get the Verizon version.

Note that not even the T-Mobile version has Band 71. However, I think that's kind of a tempest in a teapot type of thing right now. Yes, T-Mob is rolling out the signal, but it's so insignificant right now that it doesn't matter.

Maybe in a year or two when ready to upgrade and Band 71 has pretty much rolled out it might be a factor. But right now, I'd rather get Band 12 which is far more advanced in it's rollout and my 6s+ is already capable of using that.
