I am torn on these two, I know the black case will look great on a gold 5s. I want a brown case but I am unsure how the color would match with the gold, anyone who has this combo care to post pics? Thanks.

Personally I think the black / white (the front of the gold phone) is a little too stark of a contrast. I think the gold phone in the brown case looks better. (Although my favorite is gold + beige).

Why get a gold iPhone and put a case on it? Honest question, not trolling. Resale value? The only gold you would see is the ring around the home button.

The black will hide the worn out/dirt marks better.

This is part of why im scared about the brown. What are the chances of discoloration but jeans and what not?

That is precisely what I like about it, that gold ring around the home button.

It's your phone, so whichever you like.

Gold and brown clash pretty badly in terms of color palette, though.

A brown iPhone would have looked pretty nice if done right.

To my eye, the phone has a brown/tan color. It doesn't look terribly "gold," outside of the home button. I like the gold with the tan case, and would personally like even a slightly darker leather (but not too dark).

Why would you get a beautiful gold phone and cover it up with a case. I got a see through incase case and it's awesome. You can still we it and it's protected. I understand wanting to protect it, but what's the point of getting gold if you are going to cover it up?

It's not like the gold phone costs more, or anybody else is going to care or notice.

The leather will likely feel much better in hand and be easier to grip.

Clear cases look pretty nasty to some people. Looks like the kind of thing they'd use in a store to prevent people from stealing it. A pretty big drawback just to show off that you got the gold model, which costs the same, through some cheap plastic?

I'm rocking the black on my gold 5S, had it almost a week and no signs of wear. First time I've kept a case on an iPhone and got to say it's quality.

you can see the gold edge all around the phone in this case.

If you must have an apple case. Black is the only option IMO. Other colors turn and look bad.

Red :)

Though it does show wear. So will the brown one. Knowing how much the cases pick up wear and dirt I would recommend black

Great so thanks to this thread I bought the black case, and the blue one is already being shipped for my space grey. LOL ... I will return the blue once it gets here. Sheesh!

Gold 5s, Black or Brown leather case?

Brown is a good color, but being leather it will darken and change color, especially from the oils on our skin when handled. If you are good with that, go with the brown. If not go with the black case.

A lot of watches have had gold faces or bodies with brown leather wristbands for a very, very long time. I don't think you are up on your color theory.
