Apples beige case after two days of use:

I contacted Apple to see if that is normal. It's actually sheared off, it's not dirty.

I keep coming back to a clear case, mine being a Luvvit. I’ll probably settle on a three-case scenario.

A Claudabe Veil frost for light protection, a leather flip-top kind of case for overall coverage and light protection (in a color that coordinates with the phone), and finally a Lifeproof Nuud case for shoreline adventures.

I'd recommend everyone to check out the Elago s5 Aluminum bumper in Champagne Gold. Perhaps one of the best looking bumper/case around for the 5S for its simplicity and colour matching (I like to preserve the design of my phone).

Very difficult to get hold of in the UK, but I've finally found a (Chinese) seller on Amazon and bought myself the Aluminum Dark Gray version for my Space Grey 5S. Gotta wait around 4-6 weeks for delivery though :(:(:(

If anyone has the case and has pics, post them on this thread :)

Bumpers make me freaking nervous. Do they really work? I feel like having the back exposed kinda negates the purpose, unless you only ever drop it on totally flat surfaces.

You can add protective film to the back of the phone and a screen protector. I've had zero issues with drops onto uneven surfaces

I looked at that one, apparently there is a ugly aqua blue line in the middle of the case where it clicks together, and there seems to be complaints about the bumper coming loose after taking it apart too much. I like to read a lot of reviews before I purchase and this one says no to me, though it looks good at first glance.

Maybe someone here has some insight, still waiting on my Spigen bumper to be stocked.

I purchased the spigen gold bumper case and I am not impressed with it at all. Sure it looks nice but feels very cheep. It is also very slick and the plastic gold bumper feels like it doesn't want to stay together.

Okay so if I currently have a Nitro Glass screen guard, there are decent back guards out there hat I could combine with a bumper and be good to go?

Damn...Wish someone could just make one the same quality as the old Apple bumper, that thing outlasted the phone and eventually I just gave it to a friend.

The best one would be this:

Spigen Ultra Crystal for the rear glass (it doesn't matter what you pick you always get ultra crystal for the glass parts, the aluminum clear protector is completely defective and should never have been made, so don't use it)

http://www.spigen.com/iphone-5-screen-and-body-protector-set-steinheil-ultra-crystal-mix.html

Then you can use incredible shield matte for the center portion, or ghost armor (literally same product with slightly different cut):

http://www.ebay.com/itm/SPIGEN-SGP-...ction-Set-MATTE-for-iPhone-5S-5-/271326167524

Then take a razor blade and cut along the separation line between the aluminum and glass.

This makes it look like there is no back protector at all whatsoever, yet delivers perfect protection.

Could you explain what is defective about the Spigen Ultra crystal that is made to cover the Aluminum back. I used it with nothing over the glass parts because with Gorrilla glass. unless it's abused, doesn't get damaged. I was very happy the part over the Aluminum was a flat finish. No one could tell it was there. It fit perfectly and looked like the Aluminum finish. So please let me know what was defective.

By the way your phone looks great the way you chose to protect it. Mine was a silver iPhone 5 with a gun metal Element Sector 5 bumper and only the Spigen skin over the back Aluminum. It looks good too.

Updated post

Really happy with my Power Support Air Jacket clear. This is a hard case, but very good fit and very protective. This is my first white iPhone.

On black phones any scratches on a case really show up, but on a white phone scuffs on the case are not that apparent. (Same thing with watch faces, BTW)

Fun to have the gold show thru, and should be color stable.

It does allow a small amount of dust in, so I remove it off and on (perhaps once a week) just to clean it out a little.

Air Jacket

Just an update on my previous post. This case looks super on the iPhone, but upon removal I have noticed that I am collecting very fine scratches on the bevel, so am not going to use it anymore. Too bad, because it really looks nice. I keep the phone in my pocket. I check it often for dust, but must be just enough to work in along the plastic and scratch, either by movement of the case or during removal or applicaiton of the case. I found a comment or two to this effect over on Amazon too.

Spigen uses a screen protector material that is designed to go over flat glass because they are too cheap and lazy to find a proper solution. I purchased 2 sets of all 3 ultra mix materials they make and applied them, wet, dry, with alcohol and even with adhesive. Not once did the material lay flat. It raised over the Apple logo and word iPhone every time. It's a broken product.

The silver doesn't doesn't show this effect at the logo. there isn't a clear back protector that doesn't do this logo air gap on the black phone.

The soft touch back protectors don't have this effect at all. Ghost armor sticker boy and spigen invisible shield soft matte all conform to the embossed surface as they have some give to them.

Thanks for the tip. My next phone will get one of those, if it has an Aluminum back.

I am in LOVE with your bumper and screen/back protection combo. What bumper are you using in the first pic? I'm guessing it's the SGP Neo Hybrid Ex Slim in Gunmetal? If so, looks better than I thought. :D The only thing putting me off this case is the rubbery/plastic volume and power buttons. Much prefer the Metal look buttons on their Neo Hybrid Frame which unfortunately comes with a back cover that covers the entire back of the phone. :(

I'm also quite anal about the air bubbles around the Apple logo and iPhone text so will definitely be checking out Incredible Shield or Ghost Armour.

Thanks :D:D:D;)

My wife has a Caudabe Veil on her gold iPhone. I just bought another one for her as a backup. The gold is slightly washed out but still looks really good. We both love he thinness of the case. I still haven't found a case that I can tolerate as much as this one.

EDIT: sorry, here's a link to a picture of the case on the gold iPhone.
