Is there any good software for doing essays like microsoft word but for the mac! I'm gonna install iwork 08 2mrw! Maybe there is a program on there that can help me with my documents for essays or HW. Maybe iWork08 will do the trick! Anyone have any ideas?

Pages in iWork should suffice for now. TextEdit is basic, but also good. It comes with your Mac, too. :)

You do realize Microsoft Office is for Mac too right? Anyways, I would recommend iWork '08 over Microsoft Office 2004. Also check out OpenOffice/NeoOffice.

You'll be happy to know that all of the suggestion made so far include spelling checkers, so you won't keep making mistakes like "2mrw"

Applefan, I had MSOffice, but since iWork 08 I have not looked back, and uninstalled all that distasteful Microsoft stuff! :)

Well worth the £55 ($79) - loads cheaper than MSOffice also!

There is also Bean which looks promising and full of open source goodness. :)
