Good audio recording application for iMac

I need to do some voice only recording, both wav and mp3 files. In Windows (my ugly past life🙂) I used a program called CoolEditPro...now known as Adobe Audition. Anyone know a good program for my iMac (my wonderful new life companion😀?

Audacity (freeware) is very popular and quite easy to use.

+1 for Audacity. I'd stick with the stable version (1.2.6 last I checked) because with the beta I've lost data. Also, Garageband does voice recording.

Try Sound Studio 3. It's not freeware, but isn't expensive. The Mac version of Audacity has numerous bugs, including not working well (or perhaps not at all) with most external sound cards. The Mac version of Audacity needs some help.
