My spouse's company offers IT items to it's employees after their periodic refresh periods. Up for grabs this go around is a 2015 MacBook Pro 13" (A1502, i7-5557U / 16GB RAM / 256GB SSD) for $500. It has been restored and refurbished by their IT department and the company provides a 90 day no questions asked return policy.

I have looked at comparable sales on Amazon, CraigsList, etc. and this appears to be a good deal. I have physically inspected the device and beyond the normal wear and tear and minor external case blemishes appears to be in good order.

I know this is 4+ year old tech, but for $500, it is very tempting.

This device will be a backup/traveling device as I already have an iMac at home.

Before the suggestions, I am not interested in an iPad.

Thanks!

Buy. It. Now.

Keep it for yourself as a great laptop computer or double your money by putting it on eBay. 2015 MBPs in good condition still sell for very good prices (1000 USD is not far fetched at all).

I still use one and love it. $500 seems like a decent enough price with a no questions asked return policy.

It may struggle under high CPU tasks compared to today’s Pro laptops, but on the other hand, it’s very easy to cart around.

I have a maxed out 2015 13 for my work system except for the SSD - only 500 GB. I don't use it because I have a personal 2015 15 that I use for work for the bigger screen and faster CPU. I do think that $500 for a maxed out 13 is a very good deal. If it's less than that, then a good deal.

You can always sell it for more than that ;) ;). Some of us are still looking at these.

Not for the 13 inch. In early 2016 when the 2015 13-inchers were still in stock at Best Buy they were selling new in the box for $899. I bought one back then.
I'd say $500 for one that's scuffed up and has been used for 4 years is the very top end I'd pay. And even then I'd very likely pass.

I second that ... strongly.
