Good deal on a Mac pro?

    Yes, this seems too good of a deal. A lot of people are asking $2K USD for the base quad core configuration. D700 based systems command at least $3K.

    3.0 12 core ? Perhaps they swapped the CPU ?

    I saw that and considered that possibility. IMO the processor is the second least important factor in determining price. The GPU's are, IMO, the most important factor in pricing. Memory, SSD, and processor all take a back seat to the GPUs.

    Sometimes people need money. Bring your own drive to boot from and verify the specs. run Furmark for 5 minutes. Check the serial.

    Is there a means to check if the system is stolen?

    Ain’t no such thing as a 3.0 12 core in a 6,1 unless you count turbo. Highest spec compatible cpu is the E5-2697 V2 which is 2.7.
