My friend is getting rid of his macbook pro(Mid-2012, 4gb ram, 500gb storage, 13 in screen) for $600. Is this a good deal?

Not bad, though you should definitely consider throwing in an SSD so it doesn't run like horsedung. So add the cost of the SSD too.

100% agree. I don't think I could be convinced to buy a computer without an SSD anymore without an immediate plan for upgrading. Otherwise, the price is quite good even considering the cost of adding an SSD.
 
sounds like a good price. just depends on what you are going to use it for it you need an SSD though.
