I apologize if I shouldn't be starting a new thread but I didn't want to take over the other thread, as it's not completely overlapping.

I'm actually not quite sure what I'm looking for. Well, ok, I sorta do. I'm looking for a 3D Mac fantasy RPG (I can't do bootcamp or anything) and it must be free. I'm also looking separately for an EVE/Vendetta-style MMORPG that has a free account option instead of a trial.

So for the limitations I have, I want it to be as immersive as possible so graphics are big for me, hence the 3D qualifier. I can't run bootcamp or a vm. Finally, I can't really pay for anything right now. Possibly if the price is really small, preferably not recurring.

In terms of both, I prefer complicated and/or expansive and deep gameplay. But for the RPG, it needs those, since of course the social aspect and the plain coolness of a huge space universe to mess with isn't there.

Sorry if I rambled too much... can anyone suggest anything?
Thanks, Nate

You mean free free or free as in no monthly subscription? Minons of Mirth must be purchased but it has no subscription. Keep in mind, you get what you pay for.

Do they actually makes games to give away for free? And I'm not talking about one of those flash/browser games. :)

I mean as in free or micro transactions. Like runescape for instance, where you can have a free account and enjoy it for as long as you want, or upgrade to premium. Not games like WoW or EVE that just give you a free trial then make you pay to keep playing.

Well, without repeating what I just said, yes. They just offer premium accounts as well.

And thanks for the game suggestion; I'm downloading the free version now :)

You can try out Shadowbane - graphic's aren't really good but gameplay is the best in my opinion. It's mainly PVP based game - sort of strategy and RPG mixed together. You can play as one of the 11 races, 4 different base class, and up to a dozen job like Scout, Thief, Barbarian, Assassin, etc..

What I like about this game is the gameplay. You can get to max level in about a day or two depending how much you grind and then you can group with some buddies and start killing people anywhere and loot their inventory except in four cities - they're so called 'Peace Zone'.

You can create guilds, lead hundreds of people, gain resources via Mines and gold then build up a city anywhere on the world map and declare wars on other people's city. This is called siege and it's the best, ever. Siege can last for hours because about hundreds of people participate in it - bringing massive AoE characters like Prelates, Crusaders, Mage casters .. and priest to help along with. Epic PvP I must say - you won't find any other games with the PvP gameplay of Shadowbane has.

It was created in 2002/2003 and they closed the server once and for all on July 1st 2009 but there's a small group recoding the game and will relaunch it in a few months. Check it out, www.shadowbaneemulator.com

Personally I like Dungeon Runners by NCSoft, but I'm running it thru Parallels. I'd love to get it running via Mac native or with Crossover Games.

Sorry to hear that about Shadowbane. I switched to WoW from Shadowbane for the PvE but I sometimes miss the Shadowbane hardcore PvP.

Not a Mac game but I had a great time playing Planetside, an entirely PVP Sci-Fi setting. I think it's still going. It is RP-like in that as you play you gain ability slots. After a year and a half, I burned out with it.

Not sure what you're refering to as a non Mac game but both WoW and Shadowbane are Mac supported games..
