Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs HD
GianaSis HD
Nicky Boom 1 & 2 (although I have to use the 2X res)
Rat On Run "
Omino
Babylonian HD
SWA
(as you can see, I'll try any platform game is my quest for a "Mario" look-a-like.

Other games I like:
World of Goo
7 Wonders HD
Paradise Quest
PvNvP (similar to Angry Birds, but with more options)
LuxorAR HD
BeyondYnthHD
Car Shark (best choice for multiple card games!)

What I really, really want is a game that is as close as possible to Super Mario Bros!! I need this game!:p

Real Racing 2 HD is probably the best game on the iPad, when used in conjunction with the HDMI output to a large HDTV. Having the track data, lap times, point on track in the palm of your hand while racing on you tv is cool. This game equals anything on XBox or PS3.

Asphalt 6 HD is an awesome arcade style racer.

Let's Golf 2 HD - best golf game for the iPad

Air Penguin is a fun, addictive little game that just came out.

Puzzle Quest 2 - console quality game for $5? A hell of a deal.

Carcassonne! and Ticket To Ride

Carcassonne (named after a city in France, I think) is an awesome strategy game. $9.99 and worth way more than that in my book. Apparently it's a board game, but I had never heard of it. You can play live against a random player (many are in Europe), you can play turns and the game notifies you when you're up, you can play a solitaire version, or you can play AI players. It's a GameCenter game too. Hs very peaceful music and a really cool accented voice will tell you when you're not in the game that, "It's your turn." it also keeps a rating for you as you win and lose.

Just enough of the game is luck that you can still do okay at winning sometimes while you're learning. 2-4 players. Can't remember if you can play more than that.

Another game I like, also adapted from a board game, is TIcket To Ride. I think it was $4.99 to play the U.S. Map. There are other variations also.

I also like Little Things (an object search game) and the BEST "spot the difference" game I've ever seen is "Find It Pro". Not Find It Pro2 -- I don't recommend the expansion set. But the first one has gorgeous piano music by Yiruma. And the photos are beautiful...and it's not the same differences every time. Very nice quality.

I play all the word games people have listed too, but I mentioned these two because I play them a lot and didn't see them listed above.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned.
Sid Mier's Pirates.

Asphalt 6 HD is a fun car racing game.

Where's My Water is cute in an Angry Birds sort of way.
